Blue: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue 

Blue: The Life and Art of George Rodrigue paints a colorful portrait of the legendary Louisiana artist who overcame adversity to become an international Pop Art sensation.

Directed by New Orleans native Sean O’Malley, the National News Emmy Award-winning documentary features interviews with Rodrigue’s family, friends, and admirers, including Emeril Lagasse, Drew Brees, James Carville, and Marc Morial.

From teaching himself to paint while bedridden with polio to celebrating Cajun culture on canvas, Rodrigue defied critics and convention. His transformation of the Cajun folklore creature known as the Loup-Garou into the iconic Blue Dog made him one of America’s most recognizable artists.

Through personal struggles, Hurricane Katrina, and a battle with cancer, Rodrigue remained true to his artistic vision - and along the way, made the world happy to feel Blue.
